Sister Clifford WEEK #7: "It was a GREAT week to be a missionary!"
Sister Clifford WEEK #7: "It was a GREAT week to be a
missionary!"
Hi everyone!!!
WOW... This week
was truly amazing. love being a missionary!!!! Sister Oscarson and I were able
to see so many miracles this week. It was so awesome!
To start off, the
most amazing thing happened. Last Monday night Sister Oscarson and I were
talking about missionary work and how there are some days that are hard and you
just feel like you aren't a good enough missionary, even though you are doing
all you can. SO the next morning during scripture study, I said a prayer before
and asked Heavenly Father to help me read something that will give me a sign
that I am doing a good job and He is well pleased with me. I immediately got up
and opened up my scriptures to D&C 88:80, which says:
"That ye may be prepared in all things when I shall
send you again to magnify the calling whereunto I have called you, and the
mission with which I have commissioned you". IT WAS THE MOST AMAZING THING
and I just sat there and cried! If we pray with real intent, He will answer our
prayers. I know it.
ALSO, I hit my 2 month mark on the 19th!!!! Sister Oscarson
is the cutest comp and decorated my desk and took me out for ice cream! I love
her so much!
Another amazing miracle that happened this week was when we
decided to go contacting and fine people downtown. We parked and we said a
prayer in the car together that we would be able to recognize those people who
are in need of the Gospel in their lives. We got out of our car and started
walking and all of a sudden a guy calls out to me and says he recognizes me
from somewhere! (I've NEVER seen him in my life probs ever) BUT I started
talking to him and he ended up telling me how he is looking for a church to go
to! I gave him our information and shared a message with him. It was the most
amazing thing that we prayed just a little before that we would be able to
'recognize' those people, BUT instead we were recognized!!!
Also, we have been
working hard and we have so many awesome new investigators. We are so grateful!
We were contacted by a girl this week, her name is Lee, who had missionaries
teach her a coupe of years ago and she wants to continue again. She is the
sweetest and we are so glad she reached out to us! We also met a girl named April,
who is the BEST! She read the Book of Mormon this week and she told us that she
feels that it's true and then she said "Don't worry, I'll read the whole
thing!" Uh we love her!
Also, this week we
decided to stop by at Preston's house (crazy old man who we thought wanted to
bash and wasn't wearing a shirt) and we were scared of how he was going to
respond to us coming back BUT he was SO HAPPY!!! He kept just giving us food,
gift cards, drinks, and Chick-Fil-A calendars (he knows me so well). We were dying
laughing!!! He said he's going to continue to read the Book of Mormon and told
us that we have to come back! We love him! People in the south really are the
sweetest people.
This past Friday we
had the follow up trainer's meeting in Birmingham and it was so fun! I also got
to see Sister Southwick there AKA the best MTC comp on earth and WE CRIED. I
love her so much! She is amazing and is such an awesome missionary! After, we
all went out and got sushi and fro-yo which was probably the best decision ever
made and I may have cried a little bit! Sister Oscarson and I also made a
pit-stop at Trader Joes on the way home and tears may or may not have been shed
there!!! My heart was so happy.
After the meeting on
Friday, we had the chance to walk around the temple and I will forever be
grateful for the spirit that is felt there. I love the temple so much. It
really is my favorite place on earth and it is where everyone in the world
should be. I love it.
On Saturday, we
were able to watch the Women's Session of General Conference and the spirit was
incredible. It was amazing to be able to watch as a missionary representing my
Savior, Jesus Christ. One part that really stuck out to me was in President
Uchtdorf's talk and he talked about how we all shouldn't worry because we are
all in God's hands and they are very good hands. That is the most comforting
knowledge, that we are all taken care of and that everything will be okay, as
long as we trust Him.
I am so excited for
General Conference this weekend and I am grateful for the comfort and peace it
brings. I would invite everyone to tune in this weekend and watch it. I can
tell you that it will bring more happiness and more joy to your life. I love
conference so much!!!
One last miracle
that happened this week:
We were over at a recent converts house having dinner and
she is the best! We LOVE her. Anyways,
her brother and his girlfriend ended up coming over too, and they are
non-members. At the end of the dinner, she asked us to share a message with her
brother. We pulled out our scriptures and started flipping to the scripture we
planned to share, but immediately I got a prompting to share Alma 32, which
talks about faith and how we need to all have faith in order to continue to
develop a relationship with our Father in Heaven. After I read the scripture, I
bore my testimony of faith and how it has blessed my life. After, he looked up
at me and said, "wow, that is what I needed to hear!" And then asked
about coming to church! It was the coolest!!! Ahh I was so happy that I
listened to the spirit.
Yesterday was such
an amazing day as well!!! There was the strongest spirit felt in testimony
meeting. So many kids got up to bear their testimonies and talked about
missionaries and how they hope to serve a mission one day too! I really am so
lucky to be on this mission.
I have really been
studying a lot about the Savior's life and His role in our lives. If we reach
out to Him, our lives really will be blessed. I love my Savior so much. I would
invite you all to continue to follow Him and see how His role can better bless
your lives as well.
Well, that is it
for this week! It really was one of the most amazing weeks ever. If we all take
the time to look for the good in each day, we can really see how blessed we
truly are. I love missionary work. Some days are hard, but it is all worth it.
I am grateful for all the support and prayers! I really do feel them 24/7. I
love you all!!! I hope everyone has the best week! Life is good!!
