Sister Clifford Week #4 ALABAMA: "Please Bless These
Gluten Free Cookies"
HI EVERYONE!!!
Wow. This week has
been so crazy and so funny! Get ready for some crazy stories. First off, if
anyone has never been to Alabama (Probably 97% of you) just be aware that it is
the craziest state ever. The people here are crazy and some of the funniest
people I have ever met OH MY. I just love them so much.
Okay so to start off our Mission President moved some things
around last week and I got moved to Prattville, Alabama and my companions name
is Sister Oscarson. She is the BEST and I LOVE her so much! We have way too
much fun everyday. Prattville is such an awesome place, I love it here. It is
southern Alabama, just right outside of Montgomery, which is the capitol of
Alabama. Prattville is the farthest south sisters serve in this mission. There
are so many missionaries serving in this area too, which makes it so much fun.
Anyways, it has seriously been the funniest week ever.
To start off, SISTER OSCARSON AND I GOT THE COPS CALLED ON
US. Oh my it was hilarious! So Friday night, there was a big football game
happening at the high school and we decided to drive by to check it out and
there were so many people there and so many people around town. So we decided
to go tracting even though it was getting dark outside. So we went into this
neighborhood and started knocking and we were having SO much success. It was
incredible. Everyone was letting us in and kept wanting to talk to us. It was
the best! So after about 30 minutes, we decided to head back to our car and as
we are walking back 2 COP CARS pull into the neighborhood and turn on their
lights and just pull right in front of us. We both just stopped and screamed
because it was terrifying. BUT someone in the neighborhood called and said we
were being a disturbance (so rude) and the officers had to take our ID'S and
run them through the system and it was just the scariest and funniest thing.
They let us go after about 20 minutes and we just got in the car and started
laughing SO HARD. oh my it was crazy!
Also, the elders in our district made us gluten free cookies
and it was the nicest thing ever. They were so good too!!! We ate them all
together because the elders didn't believe that something gluten free could be
good BUT they loved them! And we made sure to bless the gluten free cookies
before we ate them ;)
ALSO, speaking of gluten... no one here knows what it is and
it is probably the funniest thing in the world. They will cook us dinner and
then sit there and offer us bread and say that they didn't put any gluten in it
they just added a little wheat. I then try to explain to them that gluten is
wheat but no one understands, so please pray for me. Southern cooking is SO
GOOD though. The food here is unreal, I love it!
The people here in Prattville are amazing and we have experienced
so much success! The investigators here are amazing. We have an investigator
named Linda and she is the sweetest person ever. She is planning on getting
baptized on the 16th but her husband is a little crazy about the whole idea, so
we are just praying that it will happen. She loves the Gospel so much and it is
so fun to be able to teach her. We love her!
Anyways, mission life so good. I love it so much. Alabama is
an amazing place and everyone needs to experience the South at some point in
their life. It's so GREAT! I'm grateful for the opportunity that I have to
serve here. It's crazy that I've already been here for a month. I am so lucky
to be able to have this opportunity to serve my Heavenly Father. He really does
love all of us so much. This church is true and I am so grateful to be apart of
it. It truly does change lives. I love you all so much & I hope everyone
has a great week!!!
xoxoxo
