Sister Clifford Week #11 in Alabama: "I got a divorce with the Devil"
Hi Family & Friends!!!
What a week. Time is such a weird thing! It can go by so fast and so slow at times. It is a crazy thing! This week I hit 3 MONTHS!!! When I look back, I am so grateful for these past 3 months and all the things that I have been able to learn. I am so thankful. Not gonna lie, they have been the hardest few months of my life, but I have also developed such a great love for this work and for my Heavenly Father. I have learned more serving Him, than I have ever in my entire life. This experience is already unforgettable. I know He called me here, to BAMA, for a reason and I love being here. The people in the South are the nicest/sweetest people and I am grateful for them and the opportunity that I have to serve them.
This week was A BLAST and it went by so quickly. Sister Oscarson and I are working our hardest and I love her. Every single night we come home EXHAUSTED, but it is all worth it. We love serving. On Tuesday, we had the opportunity to go back to the house we were painting in Millbrook, AL, which is about 5 minutes from our area, and we were able to finish painting it with all the other missionaries in our area! The people that own it are investigators, and they are so sweet! We love them. They also fed us and it was such a fun day!
Also, we have the cutest girl that we meet with (her name is Rocio) and we love her! It is actually so crazy, because I know her friend from back home in San Clemente! She is so sweet and is very interested in the message that we share. She also brings so many people with her when we go to visit her and all these people are from all different parts of the globe (Poland, Spain, Columbia). It is so fun to talk with them. They are the sweetest people!
We had an exchange on Thursday with the Millbrook sisters and wow, WE LOVE THEM! They are amazing. I had the chance to be with Sister Millard and she is an amazing missionary! We got to teach Cooper, and he is 10 and getting ready to be baptized. We taught him about Faith and how he is following the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ by being baptized. He was so sweet and lit up when we talked about baptism. I love him! Thursday was a great day. It's amazing to be able to see the joy that this Gospel brings to people as they accept it and choose to follow our Heavenly Father and His plan for us. It's a blessing.
An amazing miracle happened to us this week! We pray to be able to witness a miracle each day and we really truly are given them EVERY DAY. It is the best thing in the world. Heavenly Father blesses us with miracles in ways we couldn't even imagine. This experience was an amazing one! So on Friday night we went to visit Nicole, who just recently got baptized, and she wasn't home but her little brother and sister were. They don't like us and don't talk to us much, but when we went inside her little brother Thomas came right up to us and asked us if we could help him. He has lost his hearing aid and none of his sisters would help because it was "his fault". We told him accidents happen, and of course we would help him look! It was so dark outside and he could only find a small flashlight. Sister Oscarson and I were committed to finding it. We walked all around the house, and all around his neighbors house. His neighbors even looked at us and said, "why are the Mormon missionaries helping?". But opposition didn't make us quit. We searched for probably 30 minutes, when I got the idea to kneel down with Thomas and say a prayer. I offered it and the spirit was STRONG. We kept looking, but nothing showed up. We reassured Thomas that if he had faith, he would be able to find it tomorrow when it's not dark. The next afternoon we went back and he came running outside thanking us and hugging us and told us how he found it so easy that morning. It was an incredible experience to teach that Heavenly Father does answer prayers, if we have FAITH and trust HIM.
I really do love this work and the blessings that it provides. IT IS HARD. HARDEST THING IN THE WORLD. But the best thing about it is that it is all worth it. I learn so much every day. Heavenly Father's love is real and I know He answers our prayers. Every day, we are led and guided to those people who need this Gospel.
Also, funny story that happened this AM: An investigator called us early this morning and started yelling in the phone how she is divorcing the devil! (CLASSIC ALABAMA) and so we taught her a lesson over the phone, literally at like 6 AM. She said we made her day and wants to learn more so that was good ;) LOVIN' LIFE.
I LOVE THIS WORK AND ALL THE JOY THAT IT BRINGS. It is so hard, but it is all worth it. Always remember how much your Heavenly Father loves you and that He is always there for you!!! I love you all! Life is good here in BAMA.
Have a good week! I love you all!
