SISTER CLIFFORD Alabama Week #5: Greetings from Hurricane Irma
SISTER CLIFFORD Alabama Week #5: Greetings from Hurricane
Irma
HI EVERYONE!!! I hope you are all doing amazing!
First, I love Sister Oscarson and we love this area and are
so happy!!! Life is good. We have way too much fun.
WELL... The subject
says it all Hurricane Irma has started here in Prattville, Alabama. Prayers are
accepted, thank you.
But for real, it has been so windy and rainy all day it's
been a crazy day! We have been told to stay in for the rest of the day too, so
that's exciting! BUT This morning Sister Oscarson and I were driving to
Montgomery for a Zone Activity when we got rear ended which was pretty scary
and exciting! Everyone in Alabama has no clue how to drive, especially in rain.
BUT Sister Oscarson and I had another amazing week! Alabama
is such an amazing place and the people here are family! I love them so much.
Southern hospitality is real and I love it!
This past Wednesday we were able to work at the food bank
downtown which was so awesome and it was so much fun! We loved it. Also,
Thursday we had exchanges with the sisters that live in the city next to us and
we all had lots of fun together. I was able to meet so many amazing
investigators in their area and talk to them about the Gospel and how they've
been able to see it blessing their lives. The Gospel of Jesus Christ makes
people so happy and I have the best job in the world. I have the opportunity so
see that change happen every day. It's the most amazing experience.
Also, we have been meeting a lot with our investigator Megan
and she is the sweetest! She is 20 and lives with her two kids and Husband,
Danny. Her babies are the cutest in the world and I want to take them home with
me every time I'm with them. (I sent pics) Anyways, her husband, Danny doesn't
want anything to do with the church and has a smoking and swearing problem and
is rude most of the time we are over there. It is really hard to teach her
sometimes too because he will be playing video games suer loud right next to us,
or he'll be swearing about something. The spirit is just gone every time. Megan
is always so interested and she told us she loves having us over because she
feels like she has no one else to talk to you. SO, this past week we went to
visit her and before we went in we said a prayer that Danny's heart would be
softened and he would be calm and quiet while we were there. We walked in the
house and it was AMAZING. I felt the spirit right away. Megan just stood right
up when she saw us, gave us a hug and told us she loves us and Danny was just
siting quietly on the couch. They both just sat and listened as we spoke. There
was no distractions and it was just centered fully around the Gospel. It was
amazing. She asked us to come back ASAP too. HEAVENLY FATHER ANSWERS PRAYERS.
We walked out so happy!!!!
ALSO, I have some exciting news Every Saturday morning the
missionaries go and play soccer with all the members and wow it's exciting.
EXCEPT all the sisters just stand there and talk because no one passes to us. They
always yell "please break up relief society". It's actually way
funny. But anyways, this week Sister Oscarson and I decided that we were going
to actually play. (Who have I become seriously) BUT we actually did and I am so
happy and shocked to report that I scored two goals. (I KNOW, very hard to
believe but it is the truth). It was the most exciting thing ever!!!
ALSO Sister Oscarson and I have been dying laughing all week
about everyone that talks to us about this hurricane. Every dinner appointment
we have they ask us, "what is your plan for this hurricane?" and we
literally just look at each other like so confused what we are going to do and
they all think we are so dumb. So many people have given us food, flashlights,
water. It is SO NICE!!! So know we feel like we are a little prepared.
And we got our flu shots this week and tried to share a
message with the lady that was giving it to us. She then told us she was from
South Korea and I immediately in my head thought "HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU
GET HERE. WHY ARE YOU IN ALABAMA OF ALL PLACES". She was super nice though
and was very interested in missionaries!!!
I had the opportunity to speak in church yesterday which was
awesome! I spoke on the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it made
me so grateful that we all have this knowledge on the earth today. This Gospel
blesses lives and it truly is our path back to our loving Heavenly Father.
Everyone on this earth deserves to have this knowledge in their life. Pray for
missionary opportunities every day. Heavenly Father will lead and guide you to
His children who are missing this knowledge. We can all be missionaries every
single day. Pray!!!
One of my favorite things to do every morning is study the
scriptures. It is an amazing way to start my day. The Book of Mormon is true. I
would invite everyone to read Mosiah chapter 2 this week. It is amazing!
Mosiah 2:41
41 And moreover, I
would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and ahappy state of those
that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are bblessed in all things,
both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out cfaithful to the end they are
received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of
never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for
the Lord God hath spoken it.
I love being a missionary! I love my Heavenly Father. This
Gospel is TRUE.
I love you all!!! I appreciate all the prayers and emails.
Keep praying, I can feel them every day.
I hope everyone has a great week!!! Life is good &
blessed here in Bama.
